This rapidly growing, early stage company develops, owns and operates commercial scale solar energy systems in the New York tri-state area. The organization uses innovative financing structures to help businesses achieve substantial savings while embracing solar and other forms of renewable energy. Using proven technology and on-site generation, the company supplies a substantial portion of clients' long-term energy needs at a cost substantially below retail electricity rates.
Role and Responsibilities:
Reports to: CEO
As part of the senior management team, the Sales and Marketing Director will be responsible for designing and implementing customer acquisition strategies and market initiatives. The business is identifying new markets, considering segmentation strategies, and evaluating approaches to attract and acquire respective customers. The Sales and Marketing Director will also be responsible for building and managing the sales and business development teams. Considerable experience and creativity are required, as well as the ability and maturity to manage growth within a fast-paced, start-up environment.
The Sales and Marketing Director will be responsible for:
• Developing customer relationships across a range of educational institutions
• Exploring strategic growth opportunities across geographies, and new customer and market segments, as well as other renewable technologies that can further leverage the existing financial platform
• Developing creative customer acquisition strategies across a diverse set of project types
• Helping develop and implement a long term marketing strategy
• Developing a comprehensive line of marketing materials, as well as corporate documents
• Interacting with customers - both at a conceptual level with CEOs, CFOs, etc. as well as at a hands-on level with utility / facility / property managers
• Managing customer relationships throughout the entire sales cycle: system design and engineering, project management, contractual obligations, billing etc.
• Traveling as necessary to engage customers
Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must be passionate about the renewable energy business, be willing to work extremely hard, and enjoy the fast pace of an early stage company with tremendous growth potential.
In addition, he/she must possess:
• Bachelor's degree from top-tier institution
• 5+ years work experience in: financial services, energy, or a related field with an emphasis on developing client relationships and selling sophisticated financial services – experience developing commercial scale solar or other renewable energy assets is a big plus
• Proven track record of successfully negotiated transactions working with multiple parties
• Superior written, verbal, and presentation skills
• Ability to sell a complex financial solution to reduce energy costs in an easy to understand way
• Strong presentation creation skills using Power Point
• Desire to work hard, have fun, and play a key role building an innovative, green company
• Understanding of, and interest in: project finance, renewable energy and environmental policy issues
• Sound judgment, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills
Compensation:
Base of $175,000 + bonus + substantial equity + benefits.
